“Zero Rizz”: Simu Liu Meme Go Instant Viral

Nowadays, anything that goes viral is turned into an internet meme. The same can be said for Simu Liu. During his appearance at The Game Awards 2023 on December 7, he officially released the trailer for Stormgate, an upcoming real-time strategy video game developed by Frost Giant. In the game, he has voiced a major character.

Simu Liu’s meme goes viral on the internet 

A meme or, let’s say, a GIF started to go viral on the internet, showing Liu standing on stage with a mic and an envelope to announce the next award. He can be seen saying something into the mic and later grinning along with the audience.

Well, he was talking to one of the audience members, to whom he was smiling and nodding. At the same time, many in the audience area reacted with a polite smile to whatever Liu said.

Meanwhile, many on the internet deemed the moment awkward and commented that Liu is not funny as he was unable to crack a joke. Additionally, some are suggesting that there might be a chance that the joke didn’t land well, leaving the audience clueless. The moment is not exactly a controversy but a hilarious GIF that has given birth to many viral memes.

This is not the first time Simu has been a part of online discussion. Back in 2021, a series of Reddit posts from 2015 were resurfaced on X by the username NippedInTheBud. It was alleged that the social media account belongs to Canadian actor Simu Liu.

From the accounts, many racist and homophobic posts were made. Later, he faced a lot of backlash from the public and was publicly called out for being insensitive towards women and the LGBTQ community.
