Ganesh Jayanti is observed on the Chaturthi of the month of Magha. This day is also known as Magha Chaturthi, Tilkand Chaturthi, Magha Vinayaka Chaturthi, or Varad Chaturthi. According to Hindu belief, Lord Ganesha was born on this day. It is believed that fasting on the day of Ganesh Jayanti and listening to the birth story of Lord Ganesha fulfills all the wishes.

This year Ganesh Jayanti will be celebrated on 4th February, Friday. On this day Lord Ganesha is worshiped with rituals. By observing fast on this day and listening to and telling the story of the birth of Ganesh ji, all the sufferings of the devotees are removed and their wishes are fulfilled.

Significance

According to the legends, when Mata Parvati wanted a son, she created Ganesha from the rubbish. Those who wish to have children, they should keep fast on Ganesh Jayanti or Magha Vinayak Chaturthi. Lord Ganesha fulfills the wishes of his devotees on this day and rescues them from troubles.

Shubh Muhurat

According to the Panchag, the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Magh this month is starting from 04:38 am on Friday, 04 February and will end on 05 February, Saturday morning till 03.47 am. In such a situation, Ganesh Jayanti will be celebrated on Friday, February 4.

Puja Vidhi

Clean the place of worship. Decorate the temple or place of worship with flowers and lights. Spread red cloth on the post and place the idol of Lord Ganesha. Offer 21 laddus to Lord Ganesha by offering vermilion and durva. Offer 5 laddus to Ganesh ji and distribute it to the poor or Brahmins. Do Ganesha’s story, Chalisa and Aarti. After this take the blessings of God.
