Hanukkah, also known as Chanukah or the Feast of Dedication is an 8-day-long Jewish festival that starts on the 25th day of Kislev, the 3rd month of the Hebrew calendar. Because the Hebrew calendar follows the lunar cycle, it has no fixed dates on the gregorian calendar. In 2022, Hanukkah festivities will begin on December 18 and end on December 26.

Talking about its history, Hanukkah originates in the 2nd century BCE as per beliefs, and is celebrated to mark the he rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, at the beginning of the famous Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire.

To celebrate their victory, the Jews wanted to reclaim the Jewish Temple and light its menorah with lamps, but there was only olive oil available that could light the lamps last for one day. But surprisingly this lamp kept burning continuously for 8 days, and the people considered it a miracle. The festival is an annual national holiday in the West Asian country of Israel.
