If you haven’t ridden an electric scooter or experienced being transported by it, then what on earth have you been doing? Electric scooters are not only growing in popularity but are life-changing and completely beneficial as well.
I’m staying anonymous, but take it from me, who used to be someone nonchalant about electric scooters (which you might be too), until I actually got on it and my whole perspective changed. I have to say, experience is the best teacher. However, if you are wise enough, you could learn more when you listen more to those who are experienced and learn from them. Today, I am now a believer in electric scooters. The benefits are outstanding.

So what are the benefits of using an electric scooter?
1 and 2. Convenient and Safe
My first would be convenience – I can go anywhere with it, anytime. Of course, the word “anywhere” is subjective and could mean the need for long-ranged e-scooters or performance e-scooters depending on your travel range, but overall, this mode of transportation can really take you places without the hassle.
Now, before you listen to the chitchats of this and that, that e-scooters are dangerous, know that this is absolutely ridiculous. Any means of transportation can pose some kind of danger, even walking. There is always some kind of risk attached to it for sure. Sometimes, or most often, it’s the rider that needs a whacking for their reckless imprudence. In fact, when you compare an electric scooter to other personal mobility devices, electric scooters “can be” one of the safest options. Keyword: can be – because as mentioned, it is the rider that “can” change the factor.
Additionally, e-scooters require little to no skill to operate, maybe some balance but that can be practiced. Trust me, I’ve learned to ride an e-scooter in one day compared to learning to ride a bicycle in days (that until now I haven’t quite perfected but maybe that’s just me).
E-scooters may not demand so much skills, but it demands 100% of your attention, complete alertness and awareness of your surroundings. Also, REMEMBER to ALWAYS wear your APPROVED HELMET and SAFETY GEARS! To put it frankly, don’t be stupid.
Like I said, riders are one of the major factors to safety. Don’t put yourself in a position of danger, always think that your life is more precious than the time you’re chasing to get to your destination quicker. It’s always the decisions made while on the e-scooter that make the difference. However, electric scooter brands have also done their best in adding features for the rider’s well-being. Turning lights, LED ambient lights, powerful batteries, slip-resistant baseboards, robust braking systems, and dual-suspensions are the few of the latest additions to bettering electric scooters to ensure your ride will be safe and smooth every time. And we riders appreciate it, big time.
3 and 4. Affordable and Time Efficient
So why did I put the two together? Because saving time is also saving money. But let’s focus on affordability first. Because it’s time to say no to expensive rides. For goodness sake, do we work hard to lose it all away? No. No. No. We are better than that.
If you really add it all up, opting for the commute or even an Uber may seem cheap for individual trips, but as time goes by, these little expenses are ripping you off especially when an e-scooter can save you tons. Make a monthly or annual tally, boy, you could have gotten yourself a new laptop or a trip abroad. How do you feel about that now?
Driving a car makes sense if you fill up every seat and it’s a family trip. But if it’s the everyday commute, the solo leisure trips to the shopping center, or running errands, why waste your precious energy, effort to look for parking space and money? When you are driving your own car for solo trips, I repeat, you can’t escape the initial cost of the vehicle, maintenance and tuning up, tanking up and everything in between. Save your city, don’t add to the congestion. Stop complaining about the traffic yet adding to the problem. Now, be part of the solution.
5. I got things done! Success!
The first and the last mile is one of the reasons riders go for electric scooters because traffic is so bad and time consuming. Electric scooters are here to save you from all these problems, if you let it. The choice is always still up to you. When I held on to the e-scooter, I marveled at how convenient it was to get out and get going. I cut my travel time in half. It was so easy to get to places I needed.I was even out more often than before because it was just too easy to get errands finished quicker. Time was on my side.
6, 7 and 8. Compact, Foldable and Portable
Another plus of using an electric scooter, unlike other Personal Mobility Devices, it is compact, foldable and portable.
Depending on what model you get, the weight varies, but believe me when I tell you that you can get one as light as 12.5 kg. Features and capabilities will vary but give it a try, find out for yourself. As the saying goes, “you’ll never know, until you try.”
Electric scooters are also easier to use for taking shortcuts and passing through areas that cars and other vehicles cannot fit.
The best part is, you can avoid your e-scooter getting lost in theft, because you can take it around with you, fold it, and store it right within your sight. Save your tears!
9 and 10. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable
The benefits to owning an electric scooter is simply not complete without mentioning how eco-friendly e-scooters are. In this era of drastic climate change, and I absolutely feel it myself, it is time to put our foot down and dictate the necessary changes that need to happen to our planet now.
Many people are searching for ways to reduce their impact on the environment, including changing their modes of transport and I’m telling you, e-scooters are one of the most eco-friendly options to date because they have almost zero emissions when already using it. However, there is truth that there are emissions produced during their manufacturing and production stage of e-scooters but the end results testify to providing a better planet for us during actual use, as they are electric and they minimize carbon footprint. This is definitely not the same case with petrol-powered vehicles, which are much bulkier, heavier and take more energy to move thus emitting larger amounts of CO₂ and other contaminating substances. We will always reap what we sow. And research says, technology for electric scooters has improved remarkably over the last two years, further improving their eco-friendliness. If we all continue this path, the sustainable way, the future will look bright for us and the future generation.
