The nine-day celebration is also called Navdurga. During the nine-day festivities, devotees worship each and every incarnation of Maa Durga. People across the country celebrate Navratri to seek the blessing of Maa Durga for abundance and prosperity. 

On the 4th day of Navratri Day, Maa Durga’s 4th incarnation i.e. Maa Kushmanda. The term denotes ‘one who created the universe’. She is said to be the 4th incarnation of Maa Durga and promotes creativity and joy. She can be seen dressed in a royal blue saree while sitting on a lion.

The colour royal blue promotes strength and stability. Wearing this colour on the 4th day of Navaratri promotes  Kushmanda’s blessings for joy, inspiration and prosperity. Wearing different colours based on each incarnation during this festival promotes positivity and prosperity in one’s life. 

History & Significance

The term Navratri is made with two words i.e Nava meaning ‘Nine’ and the other word Ratri means ‘Nights’ meaning Nine Nights. All nine nights represent nine avatars of Maa Durga. Each has its own unique representation.

As per Hindu mythology, during the time of Navratri Day, she fought with Mahishasura for nine days and nights straight only to come out as a victorious warrior. The festival symbolises the win of good over evil. 

On the 10th Day, Dussehra is celebrated marking Lord Rama’s victory over King Ravana. It is believed that Lord Rama used to worship Maa Durga for nine days in order to seek her blessing for defeating Ravana and his army. All of this promotes good over evil.
