PM Modi to throw open India’s longest cable-stayed bridge in Gujarat on Feb 25

New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the Sudarshan Setu, the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge, connecting Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island on February 25. The 2.32 Km bridge, built at a cost of Rs 980 crores, is part of the Rs 52,525 crore worth infrastructure projects lined up for the two-day Gujarat trip.

According to the PMO statement, the Sudarshan Setu is a unique bridge featuring footpaths adorned with verses from Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Bhagwan Krishna, with solar panels generating one megawatt of electricity. The bridge aims to facilitate transportation and reduce travel time for devotees between Dwarka and Beyt-Dwarka, previously reliant on boat transport.

The bridge is expected to be a major tourist attraction in Devbhumi Dwarka. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the New Mundra-Panipat pipeline project worth over Rs. 9000 crore, spanning 1194 km with 8.4 MMTPA capacity to transport crude oil from Mundra to Panipat.

The pipeline project at Vadinar will also be dedicated, involving the replacement of existing offshore lines and relocating the entire system to a new location nearby. The Prime Minister will further dedicate the Rajkot-Okha, Rajkot-Jetalsar-Somnath, and Jetalsar-Wansjaliya Rail Electrification projects to the nation during his visit to Gujarat.
