Rajasthan government launches e-auction for gold mines for the first time

Jaipur, March. 6 (IANS) – The Mines Department in Rajasthan has sparked an e-auction process for the state’s first gold mines in Bhukia-Jagpura and Kankaria-Gara areas in Banswara district. The tender document is available on the Government of India’s MSTC portal, marking the state’s first gold mine auction.

Mines Secretary Anandi mentioned that all formalities for the auction were completed in less than a month. The Bhukia-Jagpura area in Banswara has significant reserves of gold, with an estimated 222.39 tonnes of gold metal in 113.52 million tonnes of gold ore.

The e-auction programme allows for the purchase of tender documents until March 21, with technical bids due on April 12. The auction for the mining license for Bhukia-Jagpura gold mines is set for May 2, followed by the composite license for Kankaria-Gara on May 3.

Anandi stated, “With the auction of gold mines, Rajasthan will now be on the world map as a gold mining state.” The potential for gold ore in Kankaria-Jara is 1.24 million tonnes, creating opportunities for employment and investments in various industries.

Interested individuals can participate in the e-auction process by registering on the Government of India portal, as per Mines Director Bhagwati Prasad Kalal. The move marks a significant step towards establishing Rajasthan as a prominent player in the gold mining sector.
