Anand Mahindra & family donate Rs 500 crore for Mahindra University’s expansion

New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra and his family have pledged Rs 500 crore over the next five years to Mahindra University, starting from the next financial year (FY25) till FY29, it was announced on Wednesday. The funds aim to support interdisciplinary academic excellence and train multi-skilled leaders committed to inclusive and sustainable progress.

Anand Mahindra also made a personal pledge of Rs 50 crore to endow the Indira Mahindra School of Education in FY25, honoring his mother’s memory. This school aims to be a center of excellence in educational research, practice, and innovations.

The combined pledge of Rs 550 crore is part of Anand Mahindra’s ongoing support for various education initiatives across the country, including the Mahindra United World College India and the Mahindra International School. Additionally, he started the ‘Nanhi Kali’ program in 1996, providing over 700,000 underprivileged girls with access to quality education.

Mahindra University, established in May 2020 in Hyderabad, offers 35 programs across five schools and four centers at the undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctorate levels. With over 4,100 students enrolled, the university is dedicated to nurturing future leaders and innovators in various fields.
