Devine set to return for third ODI against England as Bezuidenhout sidelined with hamstring injury

Sophie Devine to lead New Zealand in final ODI against England

Hamilton, April 6 (IANS) – Sophie Devine will return to lead New Zealand for the third and final ODI against England in Hamilton on Sunday after passing a fitness test following a quad strain. New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer expressed confidence in Devine’s leadership, stating, “Having Sophie lead them out tomorrow will fill the team with confidence.”

However, opening batter Bernadine Bezuidenhout will miss the match due to a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI. A scan revealed a Grade 1 strain, requiring a period of rehabilitation. Sawyer expressed disappointment for Bezuidenhout and hopes for a quick recovery as New Zealand prepares for future matches.

To replace Bezuidenhout, Eden Carson has been called up, with Mikaela Greig joining as extra cover. England currently leads the three-match series 2-0, setting the stage for a competitive final showdown on Sunday in Hamilton.
