SPV to commence work on new interstate power transmission project in Maharashtra

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) The Ministry of Power has announced the clearance for the start of work on the inter-state power transmission project in the Kallam area of Maharashtra under the Western Region Network Expansion Scheme. The special purpose vehicle (SPV) Kallam Transco Limited has been handed over to the successful bidder, M/s Indigrid 2 Limited & Indigrid 1 Limited consortium.

The project bidding process was conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Limited. Additionally, another power transmission project in Uttar Pradesh was cleared for Tata Power Company Limited as the successful bidder. The SPV Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited has been formed for the construction of substations and associated lines.

The SPVs for both projects were handed over to the successful bidders on April 5, 2024, in the presence of key officials. RECPDCL served as the bid process coordinator for these projects, which are being executed through a tariff-based bidding process. This marks a significant step towards enhancing power transmission infrastructure in these regions.

The involvement of reputable companies like Tata Power Company Limited and Indigrid 2 Limited & Indigrid 1 Limited consortium showcases the commitment towards strengthening the power transmission network. The Ministry’s proactive approach in facilitating such projects is aimed at meeting the growing energy demands and ensuring efficient transmission across states.
