Swiggy now delivers to houseboats on Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir

New Delhi, April 8: Online food delivery platform Swiggy has expanded its services to cater to tourists staying on houseboats on Dal Lake in Srinagar. The company has partnered with Shikara operators to ensure doorstep delivery to the houseboats, showcasing its commitment to convenience for all consumers.

According to Sidharth Bhakoo, National Head of Business, Swiggy Food, this initiative highlights Swiggy’s mission of offering unparalleled convenience to its customers, regardless of their location. The partnership with Shikara operators exemplifies the company’s dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its customers.

Not only will this initiative benefit the customers on houseboats, but it will also provide new opportunities for restaurants to reach customers in unique locations and deliver their cuisines directly to their doorstep. Swiggy mentioned that local delivery partners will be appropriately compensated for their time as these deliveries may take longer than traditional on-road deliveries.

Since starting operations in Srinagar in 2022, Swiggy has onboarded over 300 restaurants on its platform, offering a wide variety of cuisines to both locals and tourists. With a vast presence in food delivery, Swiggy Food has collaborations with nearly two lakh restaurants across 600+ cities, making it a prominent player in the food delivery industry.
