Ruturaj Gaikwad on CSK captaincy transition in IPL 2024: ‘I don’t want to change a single bit of it’

Chennai Super Kings’ skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad shone brightly as his team secured a seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gaikwad’s unbeaten 67 off 58 balls helped CSK chase down a modest target with ease at their home ground.

After an outstanding bowling performance by players like Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, and Mustafizur Rahman, who restricted KKR to 137/9, Gaikwad thrilled the crowd with a flurry of boundaries. In the post-match presentation, Gaikwad expressed his desire to maintain the culture and success of CSK without changing anything drastically.

The young cricketer revealed that MS Dhoni had discussed with him about leading CSK in the future, and he has been preparing for the role by having regular discussions with coach Stephen Fleming. Gaikwad emphasized his intention to continue the team’s winning ways and stay true to himself while taking on the responsibility of captaincy.

Despite facing challenges with a new opening partner this season, Gaikwad remains focused on his performance and the team’s success. He highlighted the importance of understanding pitch conditions and adapting his game accordingly. The captaincy role has brought a new perspective to his batting approach, but Gaikwad remains determined to contribute consistently to CSK’s victories.
