KKR captain admits misjudgment of wicket in defeat against CSK in IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings Outplay Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Match

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a recent IPL match at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Captain Shreyas Iyer of KKR admitted the team’s struggle to adapt to changing conditions, leading to a 7-wicket defeat.

Despite a promising start, KKR failed to make use of the powerplay and lost crucial wickets due to the challenging pitch. CSK’s spinners, particularly Ravindra Jadeja, played a key role in stifling KKR’s batting lineup with figures of 3 for 18.

Ruturaj Gaikwad shone for CSK in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 67 and anchoring the innings effectively. Iyer mentioned, “We fell short in terms of assessing the wicket and couldn’t capitalize after the powerplay due to changing conditions.”

After conceding 56 runs in the powerplay, Jadeja turned the game in CSK’s favor with support from other bowlers like Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande. Despite a decent start, KKR struggled to set a competitive total of 137 for 9.

Iyer expressed disappointment over losing consecutive wickets and mentioned the team’s initial plan to score between 160-170. CSK’s victory places them fourth on the points table, with KKR in the second position in the IPL standings.
