India needs to prioritize ironclad defense systems like Israel: Anand Mahindra

New Delhi, April 14 (IANS) – Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has emphasized the importance of India focusing on acquiring ironclad defence systems similar to Israel’s. This comes in light of recent attacks on Israel by Iran, prompting discussions on the effectiveness of Israel’s defence systems in intercepting and neutralizing threats.

Iran reportedly launched suicide drones and missiles against Israel in retaliation to an attack on their embassy in Damascus. However, Israel’s renowned Iron Dome and other defence systems have successfully intercepted and thwarted these attacks, showcasing their capability in defending against such threats.

Mahindra highlighted that Israel possesses advanced defence systems beyond the Iron Dome, such as the David’s Sling for longer distance interceptions and Arrow 2 and 3 systems. Additionally, he mentioned the development of an “Iron Beam” system that uses lasers, indicating the continuous innovation in defence technologies.

According to Mahindra, the possession of ironclad defence interception systems is crucial in today’s security landscape, emphasizing the need for India to focus on and invest in such defence capabilities. This underscores the significance of defensive technologies alongside offensive weaponry in maintaining national security.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported intercepting about 99% of over 300 missiles and drones launched by Iran in the recent direct attack. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant praised the collaborative efforts with partners like the US in successfully blocking the attack with minimal damage caused, highlighting the effectiveness of their defence systems in real-world scenarios.
