Indians increase spending on dieticians by 125% in FY24: Report

New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Indians have significantly increased their spending on dieticians by 125 per cent in FY24, reflecting a strong commitment to healthy eating habits, as per a recent report by Razorpay. The report also highlights a 45 per cent rise in transactions for health coaching, indicating a keen interest in fitness guidance.

Shashank Kumar, MD & Co-founder of Razorpay, stated, “There’s a noticeable emphasis on holistic well-being, with a 39 per cent increase in products related to preventive healthcare. This signals a collective shift towards expanding horizons while prioritizing health, affirming the adage that ‘health is truly wealth.'”

The study analyzed over a billion transactions between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, to understand the spending behavior of Indians. It further revealed an 86 per cent surge in mutual fund investments, a 56 per cent growth in insurance payments, and a 62 per cent increase in trading value in FY24.

Moreover, payments for air travel spiked by 2.4 times, while spending on travel accommodations rose by 29 per cent during the same period. Multiplex transactions surged by 42 per cent, and ticket agencies reported a remarkable 2.7 times increase in sales.

Shashank Kumar emphasized, “Indian consumers are evolving rapidly, prompting brands to rethink their customer engagement strategies across all touchpoints.” The report also noted that close to the New Year, aviation spending nearly tripled the daily average, with online food orders doubling and dine-ins increasing by 60 per cent above the daily average on December 31 last year.
