Sanjay Bangar of PBKS confident in top-order’s potential to excel in IPL 2024

Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2024 have struggled with top-order batters failing to perform. In their recent match against Rajasthan Royals, PBKS lost despite a strong bowling attack. Interim captain Sam Curran impressed with 2-25. Head of Cricket Development Sanjay Bangar praised the team’s fighting spirit after the match.

Bangar mentioned that regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan’s absence was due to a shoulder injury, with a recovery time estimated at 7-10 days. Sam Curran was the designated stand-in captain. Despite opener Jonny Bairstow’s low scores, Bangar is hopeful for a turnaround from the top order soon. Ashutosh Sharma and Jitesh Sharma were also commended for their contributions in the match against RR.

During the match, INR 35 lakh were raised for girl child education through a joint initiative between M3M Foundation and Shikhar Dhawan Foundation. The aim is to support vocational education for 111 girls over the next five years, with a donation pledged for runs and wickets taken by PBKS during home games. The initiative seeks to empower young girls through education and skill development to create a better future.
