Every year on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar is celebrated across the country. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is known as a great personality and Dalit Leader. He was also a jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer. Babasaheb was the framer of the Indian constitution and the first law minister of India.

To pay respect and tribute to Ambedkar, his birth anniversary has been declared an official holiday across India.

Ambedkar’s lives one of the biggest aims was to providing justice to the Dalit sections of the society, for which he devoted his whole life to the social, economic, and educational upliftment of the society.

Dr. BR Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in a Mahar family in Maharashtra. His childhood was spent in such socio-economic conditions where the Dalits had a low position. At that time, the children of Dalits themselves used to carry sackcloth to sit in the school.

He prepared the outline of such a society in which individuals and groups have complete freedom to move from one end to the other in society. On 8 June 1927, he was awarded the major degree of Doctorate at Columbia University.

In 1936, Ambedkar formed the independent laborer. In the 1937 Central Assembly elections, his party won 15 seats. On 2 December 1956, he completed the handwriting of his book ‘The Buddha and Karls Marx’. Challenging the upper-class mentality, he did such great work even in the lower class, due to which he became revered in the entire Indian society. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 1990 for his incomparable services to the country. He breathed his last on 6 December 1956 at his home in Delhi.

Today is the Jayanti of Mahatma Phule and in a few days, on the 14th we mark Ambedkar Jayanti. During last month’s #MannKiBaat had paid tributes to them. India will forever be grateful to Mahatma Phule and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for their monumental contribution.
