Ashneer Grover To Go Jail For 10 Years If Found Guilty; Removed All Defamatory Posts Against BharatPe

Recently, Ashneer Grover versus BharatPe case has been in the limelight for various reasons. There have been numerous turns of events. Ashneer Grover turned to the High Court and stated that he has removed all of his defamatory statements, interviews, and social media posts from all social media platforms. As per BharatPe, Ashneer Grover’s remarks were defamatory.

Ashneer Grover and BharatPe Conflict

Moreover, the former Managing Director of BharatPe representing the counsel agreed towards the court’s orders to abide by the orders given by the court. Previously, the court had given orders to Both the firm and Ashneer Grover to not use any kind of harsh and unparliamentary words against each other. This development in the case has been first reported by Bar and Bench, the law news agency.

Giriraj Subramanium, the head of one council added that they had issues with BharatPe’s statements. Previously, BharatPe gave a statement, “Grover and family have committed a fraud,” from which Giriraj Subramanium and his council had problems. Giriraj Subramanium asked for the statement to be removed. To which, BharatPe’s counsel reacted by stating that, they will modify and amend the statement given by them previously.

The Delhi High Court, last week passed judgments that neither the entrepreneur nor the fintech major must not use defamatory and unparliamentary language against each other. At the beginning of May, the EOW or Economic Offences Wing filed an FIR against Ashneer Grover and his family. The first information report was filed keeping in view Ashneer Grover and his family.

Ashneer Grover was accused by Economic Offences Wing on eight accounts or more. The sections include 120B (Punishment of Criminal Conspiracy), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 467 (Forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 409 (Criminal breach of trust by a public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 408 (Criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant), and 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust).

If Ashneer and his family members are found guilty, then they can face imprisonment for up to 10 years.
