Bank holidays May 2021: Banks will not open on May 13, 14, know where will be closed

Banks will remain closed on May 13 and May 14 in many cities as these holidays have been declared under the Negotiable Act. Only gazetted holidays are the same in the states. But not all holidays. According to the calendar of the Reserve Bank of India, bank holidays have been declared on May 13 and 14 under the Negotiable Act.

Banks will be closed on 13 May in Belapur, Jammu, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram because of Ramadan-Eid or Eid-ul-Fitr. Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong and on 14 May Banks will remain closed in Shimla due to Lord Sri Parashuram Jayanti, Ramjan-Eid (Eid-ui-Fitr), and Basava Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya.

Apart from these, in the month of May, Bank branches on Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar due to Buddha Purnima on May 26 Will be closed

Bank holidays in India are classified as national holidays and government holidays. National holidays are gazetted holidays which include Republic Day, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Independence Day. Government holidays are divided into state government bank holidays and central government bank holidays. State government bank holidays vary from one state to another, central government bank holidays are uniform throughout the country.

Also, in addition to the previously stated holidays, banks are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. In a matter of a month, there will be work on the bank on five Saturdays and then on the fifth. In particular, RTGS and NEFT fund transfer services are unavailable on the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays and also on national holidays.
