The agreement on the seat-sharing between the BJP and its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), was finalized on Wednesday. It is being told that its formal announcement will be made on Thursday (today).

There was an important meeting in this regard at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday regarding seat sharing in which BJP President JP Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State BJP President Ranjit Das, AGP President and State Government Minister Atul Bora , UPPL chief Pramod Boro, BJP leader and Minister Hemant Vishwa Sarma should also be present.

Recently, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi started an election camp for the Congress to prepare for the Assam assembly elections. He addressed his supporters from Shivnagar boarding field in Sivasagar district. During this, he praised former Assam Chief Minister and late Congress leader Karun Gogoi. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party was also challenged for the amended citizenship law.

Voting for 47 assembly seats on March 27 under the first phase

Let me tell you that in the first phase in Assam, voting will be held on March 27 on 47 assembly seats in the state, April 1 on 39 assembly seats under the second phase and on April 6 on 40 assembly seats under the third and final phase.

There are 126 assembly seats in Assam. The term of the Assam Legislative Assembly is coming to an end on 31 May. This time the BJP has a challenge to save its power in Assam. There he faces a coalition of Congress and AIUDF. The BJP won power in a state in the Northeast for the first time in the last assembly election, ending 10 years of Congress rule. In the last assembly election, BJP won 60, its allies Assam Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front won 14 and 12 seats respectively. The Congress won 26 seats while the AIUDF led by MP Badruddhudin Ajmal got 13 seats.
