Buddhadeb Dasgupta Death: The renowned film director Buddhadeb Dasgupta has passed away today in Kolkata. His family said he died in his sleep in the morning. Buddhadeb Dasgupta breathed his last at his home in South Kolkata.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta had been ill for some time. He was suffering from kidney problems and was undergoing dialysis. Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away at 8 am Today. His death casts a shadow of deep mourning over the Bengali film world and Bollywood as well. According to family sources, he also underwent dialysis yesterday. His Relative said- When I went to call him this morning, I saw that he had no response. When the doctor was called, he declared the Death of Buddhadeb Dasgupta. He was 77 years old. His list of best movies includes films like Uttara, Tahader Katha, Kaalpurush, Bagh Bahadur Etc.

Chief Minister’s condolence message

Bengal Chif Minister Mamta Banerjee said – “Saddened at the passing away of eminent filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta. Through his works, he infused lyricism into the language of cinema. His death comes as a great loss for the film fraternity. Condolences to his family, colleagues and admirers”

Notable films directed by him are Tahader Katha, Bagh Bahadur, Uttara, Charachar, Sniffer, Kalpurush etc.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta has won numerous awards including Lifetime Achievement Award at the Spain International Film Festival, Golden Award at the Athens International Film Festival, Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, and the National Film Award.
