The name was created, according to Scott Silverman, CEO of Shop.org, in response to 2004 research revealing that the Monday following Thanksgiving was one of the busiest shopping online days of the year. Retailers said that December 5 through December 15 of the prior year was the busiest shopping week.

Cyber Monday’s Significance
