Every year, on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month, the Dev Uthani Ekadashi fast is celebrated. It is also referred to as Prabodhani Ekadashi, Devotthan Ekadashi, and Devuthani Gyaras in Hinduism. After 4 months, Lord Vishnu sustained this fast to achieve the enlightenment of Yoga Nidra. On this day, Lord Vishnu receives special reverence and family well-being prayers are made to him. This year’s fast will take place on November 4, 2022, a Friday.
Devuthani Ekadashi marks the beginning of all auspicious work. This day has also been cited in Hindu scriptures as being of utmost significance. On this day, a fasting story is read along with special adoration to Lord Vishnu.
In the dominion of a king in mythical times, everyone observed the Ekadashi fast. No one from the state was granted this day. One day, a man from a different city arrived at the royal court to request employment. He asked the king for a position. When the king heard what he said, he said, “I will give everyone a job, however you will not be fed on Ekadashi. The servant eagerly accepted the situation after hearing this and starting to shiver with delight.
However when the Ekadashi fasting period arrived, everyone in the state observed the fast. But the servant requested food from the king. He received fruits and veggies from the king. He begged, however, that he would starve to death if this did not sate his appetite. He was told his condition once more by the king. The individual claimed that food is crucial to him. The lord granted him flour, lentils, and rice for food after observing his situation. He frequently prepared food on a river’s edge. He welcomed the Lord after cooking and prayed, “O Lord!” Eat anything you want.
