Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Ranjit Sinha died on Friday, April 16 in the morning. Ranjit Sinha, a 1974 batch IPS officer, was the chief of the CBI from December 2012 to December 2014.

A CBI source told IANS that 68-year-old Sinha breathed his last at his residence in Delhi at around 4 pm on Friday. However, the reason for his death is not yet clear. According to the news agency ANI, on Thursday, the report of Ranjit Sinha’s Covid test came in which he was Corona positive.

Ranjit Sinha held many important positions like CBI Director, ITBP DG. Prior to assuming the post of Director General of CBI, he was the director of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Ranjit Sinha was a resident of Siwan district of Bihar. Sinha was accused of trying to influence the investigation into the coal allocation scam while holding the post of CBI chief.
