GST collections at all-time high of over Rs 1.15 lakh crore in December 2021

The GST collections were all-time high in December 2021 over Rs 1.15 lakh crore. The Finance Ministry says that this is the highest GST collection ever since the implementation of GST regime. Giving information about this, the Finance Ministry said that compared to December 2019, this GST collection is about 12% more. According to the Finance Ministry, there has been a steady increase in the GST collection figures in the last few months. Earlier, in November 2021, the total GST collection was Rs 1,04,963 crore.

What did the finance ministry say in the statement?
The Finance Ministry issued a statement saying that GST collection has been the all-time highest in December 2021 after the implementation of GST regime. For the first time, GST collection figures have crossed Rs 1.15 lakhs. Earlier, the highest GST collection was Rs 1,13,866 crore in April 2019. GST revenue is generally higher in April, as March is the last month of the financial year.

Campaign Against GST Evasion Along with this, a campaign has been launched at the national level to stop GST evasion. Several measures have been taken to prevent the use of fake bills in GST. It is for these reasons that the GST collection has improved.

Total Returns Filled
The Finance Ministry said that out of the total GST collection of Rs 1,15,174 crore, 21,365 crores came from CGST, Rs 27,804 crore from SGST, Rs 57,426 crore from IGST. In IGST, Rs 27,050 crore has been received from imports, whereas, Rs 8,579 crore has come from cess. A total of 87 lakh GSTR-3B returns have been filed between November and 31 December 2021.
