IND v ENG: McCullum pleads for more games for Bashir, Hartley with County Clubs

New Delhi. Feb 27 (IANS) England head coach Brendon McCullum has urged the top administrators of English County Clubs to provide more opportunities to young spinners Shoaib Bashir and Tom Hartley, who impressed during the Test series in India despite their lack of experience.

McCullum emphasized the outstanding performances of Bashir, 20, and Hartley, 24, during the tour, despite them being inexperienced and not first-choice spinners for their respective teams.

Both players achieved their first-ever five-wicket hauls in a Test match, with Bashir surpassing his first-class wicket tally in just two games. McCullum highlighted the need for County Cricket clubs to nurture these talents as they are currently not regular starters for their clubs due to seasoned spinners in their squads.

He commended their determination and resilience, urging for continued support and opportunities for the promising duo in the future.
