On May 28^th every year international day of women’s health is organized all across the globe. In 1987 it was decided to observe a day of the year to highlight the issues related to woman health. Every year on May 28 NGO’s, health organizations come together to celebrate this day.

The genesis of the three colors goes back to the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the United Kingdom in 1908. The Purple implies justice and dignity; green indicates hope; white stands for purity. WSPU is a more extreme offshoot of the British suffrage movement and was founded in Manchester in 1903 by Emmeline Pankhurst.

The WSPU, along with the more conservative National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), sought the right to vote for women in a country that had expressly denied women suffrage in 1832.
