Every Year, the International Day of Charity is celebrated on 5 September. Let us tell you, In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the same day. The aim of International Charity Day is to help needy people by making aware more to more people and encourage them to donate, whatever amount they can. History

In 2012, United Nations General Assembly declared the celebration of International Day of Charity every year on 5 September. International Day of Charity was first celebrated on 5 September 2013. The day was internationally celebrated in 2013, but before this in 2012, in Hungary, this day was first celebrated.

International Day of Charity is celebrated on the Death Anniversary of Mother teresa, who was a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity. She died on 5 September 1997.

In India, Donation is in practice for a very long time. In the Vedic period, Brahmins used to beg for alms. According to our Puranas, charity is considered a very noble act. In ancient Gurukulas also, Donation (Dakshina) was in practice.
