International Human Solidarity Day is observed every year around the world on 20 December. This year International Human Solidarity Day will be celebrated on Monday. The United Nations had announced to celebrate this day to explain the importance of unity in diversity.

History

The United Nations General Assembly, through resolution 60/209 of 22 December 2005, recognized human solidarity as a fundamental and universal right of unity, which reflects relations between peoples in the 21st century, and in this regard each year on 20th December. It was decided to celebrate International Human Unity Day every year on 20 December.

Significance

According to the United Nations, the purpose of International Human Solidarity Day is to remind governments of international agreements and the importance of solidarity among peoples.
