International Widows Day 2022: Significance, Importance, Recognition By The UN, Welfare Provided, And More Details
International Widows Day 2022 is celebrated on June 23. The United Nations has proclaimed International Widows Day as a day of steps to address the “poor and unfairness endured by millions of widowed and their descendants in several nations.” The day is celebrated every year on June 23. Though it is not evenly spread and not many people are aware that this day seems to exist, it typically does and it defines a lot of people.
International Widows Day 2022: Significance And Importance
The Loomba Foundation launched International Widows Day to increase awareness of the situation of remarriage. The prominence of June 23rd stems from the fact that Shrimati Pushpa Wati Loomba, the family foundation originator, Lord Loomba, became a widower on that date in 1954. One of the family foundation’s missions is to bring attention to whatever it calls an “invisible disaster.”
Why Is International Widows Day Celebrated – Reason
This day, even more than before is an opportunity to pick up movement in the fight for complete recognition and protection for widowed. This involves giving people information on property, land, and production factors; retirement and peer assistance that is not entirely based on marriage status; stable employment and equitable compensation; and teaching and learning options.
UN Recognition And Welfare Provided
Programs and policies to reduce terrorism towards widowed and their offspring, as well as eradicating poverty, training, and other forms of assistance for widowed of all generations, must be implemented, including that of part of collaborative programs to expedite the Sustainable Development Goals‘ completion. Women should be included completely in rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts in post-conflict contexts to guarantee that they assist in long-term security and stability.
“Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women” was passed on by the higher authority regarding this issue.
