Maheshwar Hazari, the leader of the ruling Janata Dal (United) in Bihar, was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
While maheshwar Hazari elected as Deputy Speaker, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, got 124 votes for the post of Assembly vice-president, the opposition candidate Bhudev Chaudhary did not get a single vote. The opposition is sitting out of the house on Tuesday after the incident in the assembly.
The vote was divided for the election of the vice president in the assembly, in which 124 votes were cast in favor of NDA candidate Hazari. Not a single member stood in favor of Opposition candidate Bhudev Chaudhary.

After the election of Maheshwar Hazari to the post of Vice President, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed happiness and congratulated him. Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also congratulated Hazari on being elected vice-president.
It is noteworthy that JD (U) leader and former minister Maheshwar Hazari had filed his nomination papers in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the post of vice-president on behalf of NDA.
The nomination form was filed by RJD MLA Bhudev Chaudhary on behalf of the grand alliance of opposition parties. According to the numerical strength, the victory of the NDA candidate was already being decided.
