Importance and Significance

Masik Shivratri has great importance in Hindu Culture. According to the Scriptures, ON this day lord Shiva took the Sakar Avatar. This day is also called to be the day of reunion of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. There is the custom of worshiping great Lord Shankar and Mata Parvati on this Day. It is believed that On this day Lord Shiva is very pleased on this day. So, if someone worships them and takes Vrat on Masik Shivratri. Lord Shiva completed all his/her wishes. Vrat Katha

According to one of the stories of Masik Shivratri, On the midnight of Mahashivratri Lord Shiva was born as their Symbol Shiv Ling. On that Night, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu duly worshipped the Shiv Ling. This is why the birthday of Lord Shiva is celebrated every year on Mahashivratri. Puja Vidhi

The Worship rituals of Masik Shivratri start from one day before the Tithi. So, on the day of Triyodashi, Worship Lord Shiva 45 minutes before the Sunset and take the oath of Vrat. Then, on the Day of Chaturthi, which means on the day of Masik Shivratri, wake up early in the Morning and do routine works. Then, Sit in the place of worship and lit Dhup or Agar Batti. Now, inaugurate Shiv Ling by Gangajal and Panchamrat. Offer Belpatra, Bhaang, and Dhatura to lord Shiva while chanting panchakshari mantra. Worship Great Shiva in all four pahars of the night and on the next day in the morning feed the needy people and give charity, after that break your fast.
