Milkha Singh’s wife Nirmal Saini passed away, was infected with coronavirus

Nirmal Saini Death: Indian women’s volleyball team captain and wife of legendary sprinter Milkha Singh Nirmal Kaur passed away at a hospital in Mohali due to complications related to COVID-19 infection. She had come under the grip of this disease last month. She was 85 years old and lived with her husband, a son, and three daughters.

A statement issued by the spokesperson of Milkha Singh’s family said, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that Mrs. Nirmal Milkha Singh has been passed away at 4 pm today after bravely fighting against COVID-19.

A spokesperson told that, she was like the backbone of the Milkha family. It is sad that Flying Sikh Milkha Singh ji could not attend the cremation held this evening as he is still in ICU (PGIMER in Chandigarh). Milkha was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali due to Covid-Pneumonia. Nirmal was also admitted to the same hospital two days later on 26 May.
A week later, at the request of the family, Nirmal Saini was discharged but Milkha Singh remained in the hospital due to a dangerous infection.

Milkha Singh was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of PGIMER hereafter the situation at home deteriorated. His condition is stable and is improving. The spokesperson of the family said about the death of Nirmal Saini, that Nirmal fought a brave fight till the end.
