National Women’s Day is observed every year on 13 February. The birth anniversary of the country’s prominent freedom fighter and poetess Sarojini Naidu is celebrated as National Women’s Day. Naidu is an inspiration to the women of the country. Due to her poems, he was also known as the “The Nightingale of India”.

Sarojini Naidu met Mahatma Gandhi for the first time in the year 1914 and dedicated herself to the country. She joined the national movement. All the big leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru were convinced of her leadership ability and respected her. She was made the President of Congress in the year 1925. She was awarded the Kaiser-i-Hind in 1928 by the British Government for his works during the plague epidemic in India. She went to South Africa in 1932 as the representative of India. She died of a heart attack on March 2, 1949, while working in his office in Lucknow. On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu, i.e. on 13 February 2014, National Women’s Day was started in the country.
