Nirmala Mishra Passes Away At 81, Know about her Personal Life, Career And More Details

Nirmala Mishra, a well-known Bengali vocalist passed away from a heart attack on July 30, 2022, she was 81 years old. It is claimed that she passed away at her home in Kolkata. Nirmala had long battled illnesses linked to ageing as well. On the evening of July 30, she had a heart attack and was rushed to a local hospital, where the medical staff pronounced her dead.

Nirmala Mishra’s Initial Career

Indian vocalist Nirmala Mishra also wrote the lyrics for Bengali and Oriya movies. Began singing between 1960 and 1970, and through her performances, she won the hearts of music fans. She was the only vocalist recognized at the time both for the Oriya & Bengali cinema. For her lifetime commitment to Odia music, she also received the Sangeet Sudhakar Balkrishna Das Award.

Birth and Family of Nirmala Mishra

On October 21, 1938, the day before Durga Saptami, Nirmala Mishra was born in Majilpur, 24 Parganas, India. Her mother was Bhabani Devi, and her father was Pandit Mohini Mohan Mishra. Her dad had relocated from Majilpur to Chetla in Kolkata. Murarimohan Mishra, Nirmala’s elder brother, is another Mishra. Both Nirmala’s father and brother were well-known singers with extensive musical understanding.

Nirmala’s childhood was filled with music as a result of these. Nirmala gradually began to sing beautifully. The Kashi Sangeet Samaj awarded his father the honorary titles of Pandit Sangeet Ratna and Sangeet Nayak as well. Bandopadhyay was the name of Nirmala’s family (Banerjee). Nirmala Banerjee, however, later received the title of Mishra as a result of this.

The overall career of Nirmala Mishra

Nirmala was given a break for her debut song in the 1960 Odia movie “Shri Loknath” by music director Balkrishna Das. She continued to singseveralf other extremely popular songs, including Stree, Maljanha, Actress, Anutap, Kiya Kahara, Bata, Amda, and Adina Megha. In the 1975 Odia film “Anutapa,” Nirmala contributed her vocals to the song “Nida Bhara Rati Madhu Jhara Janha.”

People still have a fondness for this song. In the year 1976, Nirmala also took part in the plays Geetinatya and Mahalaya by Shyamal Gupta, Uttam Kumar, and Hemant Mukhopadhyay. In addition to this, she has performed patriotic songs and Nazrul Geeti. With well-known musicians like Manna Dey, Manabendra Mukhopadhyay, Pratima Bandyopadhyay, Shipra Basu, and Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, Nirmala Mishra performed songs.
