Upendra Kushwaha said that people made Narendra Modi PM Today and he’s doing good work. But there are others in the country who has the potential to become PM. One of them is Nitish Kumar. He should be called PM-material and it’s not about challenging PM Modi, There is a need to create an atmosphere in the country on the issue of caste Census and Nitish Kumar can play a big role in it, says Upendra Kushwaha.

The Janata Dal (United), said that Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not in the race for the post of prime minister though he has all the qualities required to become PM.

Recently Nitish Kumar has parted his ways over caste census and joined the hands of Tejaswi Yadav to demand caste census. This has sparked the debate that Nitish Kumar may leave NDA and join third parties front over PM post. JD(U) also said recently that they will contest the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur in 2022.

They will prefer to form an alliance with the BJP but if that does not happen, they will contest independently.

JD(U) supports NDA

However, JD(U) has refused all these speculations. JD(U) general secretary and spokesperson K.C. Tyagi said that the party is an ally of the BJP at the Centre as well as in the state. Nitish Kumar is not a candidate for the post of prime minister. The JD(U) is the most trusted member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the leader of the alliance. But he (Kumar) certainly is PM material.

Mr Kumar also said that they are in the NDA and firmly support the alliance. The party would welcome the setting up of an NDA coordination committee to resolve various issues. During the period of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, several works were done after setting up the coordination committee.

He became Union Minister for Railways, Minister for Surface Transport and the Minister for Agriculture. After the Gaisal train crash (2 August 1999), he resigned as the Union Minister of Railways. During his tenure as the Union Minister for Railways, he brought various reforms like internal ticket booking facility (2002) and tatkal scheme for instant booking of tickets.

He then became CM of Bihar and consistently it’s his fourth term as a CM of Bihar. In the last Bihar election, he was in alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav and again broke the alliance over corruption acquisition on Tejasvi Yadav. He was the first CM who openly took a stand against Narendra Modi. Later on again allied with the BJP in Bihar. Looking at the political history of Nitish Kumar there political analysts are speculating that Nitish may leave the NDA if he gets support from third alliance as a PM.
