Purabi Dairy Represents Assam at IDF World Dairy Summit in Noida

West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL) famously known as Purabi Dairy is currently Assam’s largest dairy cooperative. They represented their state Assam at the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, organized at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.

In Assam, Purabi is a household name for milk or other milk-related products like Dahi, and ghee because of its premium quality. In the 2020-21 financial year, the company recorded a revenue worth 120 crores, 15% higher than last year’s revenue. They are aiming to achieve 150 crores in the 2021-22 financial year. 

The company also states they sell around 60,000 litres of milk every day, during the festival hours, it can reach up to 1 lakh litre per day. 

Purabi Dairy participated in World Diary Summit that kicked off on 12th September with PM Narendra Modi inaugurating the event. During his speech, he said- “The potential of the dairy sector not only gives impetus to the rural economy but is also a major source of livelihood for crores of people across the world,”

PM Narendra Modi also appreciated that the International Dairy Federation’s World Dairy Summit is finally back in India after 48 years. It was last held in 1974. PM Modi also expressed 

His thoughts regarding the arrival of so many countries in India during this event will help in boosting dairy farming and Indian dairy farmers. It will be a lot beneficial for upgrading our diary system. 

World Dairy Summit is 4 day-long event that ended yesterday i.e 15th September. The event was attended by many Indian as well as international dairy stakeholders such as industry leaders, dairy farmers, experts, and policy planners. The theme of this year’s summit was ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood”.
