Rachin Ravindra Stat: Career so far
Rachin Ravindra started his career when he was included in New Zealand’s squads for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He had an exceptional stint in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and was named as the rising star of the squad by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He also became a part of the Wellington team for the 2018-2019 seasons.
Rachin Ravindra made his first-class debut when he was included in the New Zealand A against Pakistan A on 21 October 2018. He was again included in the New Zealand A team against Pakistan A, on 30 October 2018. He hit his first ton against Auckland in the 2019–20 Ford Trophy while representing Wellington.
His first First class ton came when he was playing in round six of the 2019–20 Plunket Shield season. Seeing his excellent form his contract with Wellington was renewed in 2020 ahead of the 2020–21 domestic cricket season. He was also included in the New Zealand A team for practice matches against the touring West Indies team and in the first match itself he hit a scintillating knock of 112 runs.
He made his international Test debut when he was included in the Kiwi test squad for their series against England and for the final of the 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship. He made his T20 debut when he was also included in New Zealand’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their tour of Bangladesh on 1 September 2021 and New Zealand’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their tour of Pakistan.
He was also included in New Zealand’s Test squad for their series against India in November 2022. He made his test debut on 25 November 2021 in a match against India. He commenced his tryst with the County Championship in England in June 2022 when he was contracted by Durham County Cricket Club.
On debut for Durham, he hit a brilliant century against Worcestershire. He later converted his century into a double ton and scored 217 runs. He made his ODI debut for New Zealand against Sri Lanka, on 25 March 2023.
Rachin Ravindra has been included in New Zealand’s squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The faith that the Kiwi management had placed in him was not misplaced and he scored a century in the opening match which was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium against England and thus became the fourth Kiwi player to achieve this landmark. The century was completed in only 82 deliveries and it also went into the record books as the fastest century by any New Zealand player in a World Cup. His partnership with Devon Conway also went down in history as the fourth-highest partnership in World Cup history.
