There is tremendous competition in the budget segment in the Indian market of Smartphones. More than one smartphone of almost all the companies in this segment is available in the market and new phones are also being launched continuously. South Korean giant Samsung recently launched a new entry-level budget smartphone Samsung Galaxy A12 in the Galaxy A Series. This phone introduced in two variants will compete directly with the smartphones of Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Realme in the market. Let’s tell you how much power the Galaxy A12 has in this review.

Design

The Galaxy A12 comes with a plastic body. The phone has been introduced in blue, black and white color options. We have used its black color variant. The design of the rear panel of the phone is divided into two parts. The textured striped design on the top while the matte finish on the bottom. This dual finish makes the rear design of the phone attractive. The rear panel has a swipe-shape camera module in the top-left, which has four camera sensors. The LED flash is found under the camera module.

Talking about the front design, it has an Infinity-V display, which has a selfie camera above. The bezels of the phone are thin, while the chin is thicker than these. The right side of the Galaxy A12 has a power button and a fingerprint scanner is also available on it. Just above the power button are the volume buttons. The SIM card tray slot is provided in the left side. The bottom of the phone has USB Type-C charging support and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Overall look of Galaxy A12 is good. Despite being a budget phone, it also gives a little premium feel in terms of look. Due to the textured back, the phone gives good grip and protects the rear panel from scratches or fingerprints. The phone can be easily used with one hand.

The Display

The Samsung Galaxy A12 has a 6.5-inch HD + screen. However, it is not an OLED, but an LCD display. This Samsung budget phone comes with an adaptive brightness feature. This feature automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen based on your existing lighting condition. The phone can also be used easily in daylight. The Galaxy A12 has a blue light filter, which reduces eye strain while using the phone. This Samsung phone offers a better screen experience according to the budget segment.

The Camera

The Galaxy A12 has four cameras on the back. The main camera of the phone is 48 megapixels. It includes a 5 megapixel ultra wide, 2 megapixel macro camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. There is an 8 megapixel camera in the front for the selfie.

Photos clicked in the daylight from Samsung’s phone are good and to a large extent natural. In this, you will not get to see unnecessary artificial colors. There are a lot of clear details in the photo. Yes, when clicking a photo in 48 megapixel mode, the processing of the camera will definitely feel a bit slow. The macro camera also clicks good photos. The performance of the macro camera impresses in this price segment.

Ultra wide and depth sensors also perform well in daylight. However, the camera of the Galaxy A12 in low-light and indoor conditions disappoints. Something similar is also seen with a selfie camera. The front camera of the phone clicks fine photos in daylight, but it does not bring good pictures in low light and indoor.

The Battery

Galaxy A12 has a 5000mAh battery. The phone comes with a 15 watt fast charger. However, the battery takes more than 3 hours to charge 0-100%. We put this phone on charge at 5% and it took 3 hours and 5 minutes to be fully charged. As far as battery performance is concerned, if you use the phone for basic needs, then its battery will last more than a day. At the same time, if you use the phone throughout the day for other tasks including listening to music, watching videos, then its battery will support you throughout the day. The Galaxy A12 does not disappoint in terms of battery.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A12 smartphone works on One UI 2.5 based on Android 10. On one hand, now that most of the smartphones are coming with Android 11, the Galaxy A12 has come with Android 10, this is a mistake. However, the Android 11 update is expected to be received in the phone after some time. If you are a Samsung user, then you will get a familiar user interface in this phone. At the same time, if you are using Samsung’s phone for the first time, you will still be able to use the Galaxy A12. A clean user interface is available in the phone.

The Galaxy A12 has a MediaTek Helio P35 processor. Since this is a budget smartphone, one should not expect strong performance from it. However, according to the need of daily, there will be no decrease in the performance of the phone. Lightweight games can also be played easily. We played a free-fire game in it and there was no problem in performance during gaming. While playing the game neither the phone got very hot nor did the problem of lagging. If you play heavy games in the phone, then the Galaxy A12 can definitely disappoint you.

Talking about other features, the fingerprint sensor is found on the side of the phone, which performs quite well. Not even once, it will feel that it is taking more time to scan the fingerprint and unlock the phone. If you are fond of listening to loud music, then this Samsung phone will disappoint you. It gets average sound quality like a budget segment phone. Rest, there was no problem in the phone in terms of connectivity and calling.
