Sawan Somwar 2022: In India, the rainy season begins in the period of Sawan. The period of Sawan, also known as Shravan, has begun this year on July 14 and will end on August 13. Absolute dedication to Lord Mahadev or Shiva and the observance of fasts, particularly on Mondays designated as “Sawan or Shravan Somvar Vrat,” are hallmarks of the Sawan month.

Worshippers visit this place throughout this period every “Somvar,” or Monday, and present Lord Mahadev with holy water, milk, and flowers. Some people even practice Tuesday fasts, which were referred to as “Mangala Gauri Vrats.”

  • The first day of the month of Sawan is Thursday, July 14.

Sawan Somwar 2022: Vrat Katha and Puja Vidhi

The ones who want to do this vrat, should get up before dawn on Sawan Somwar (Sawan ka Pehla Somwar), tidy the premises, and take a shower. Following the rituals, they should sprinkle some amount of Gangajal throughout the household to purify it. On Sawan Monday, only red, Yellow, Saffron, and white color clothing should be worn. It is believed that White is Mahadev or Lord Shiva’s favorite color. Present Lord Shiva belpatra, incense, milk, datura, and red flowers.

Additionally, recite the “Mahamrityunjaya mantra” 108 times. For the duration of the fast, continue reciting the “Om Namah Shivaya Mantra”.
