Senior Congress leader and MLA PT Thomas passes away at 71
Senior Congress leader, KPCC working president and Thrikkakara MLA PT Thomas has passed away at the age of 71. PT Thomas died at Vellore Hospital at 10.15 am. According to media resources, he had been on treatment for cancer for more than a month.
Currently, he was the Congress Legislative Party Secretary and a member of the AICC. Let us tell you, he was twice elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Thodupuzha. PT Thomas, who represented the Idukki Lok Sabha constituency, has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Thrikkakara since 2016
Let us tell you, he was born on December 12, 1950. He studied at St. George’s High School in Parathode, Mar Ivanios College in Thiruvananthapuram, Newmans college in Thodupuzha, and Ernakulam Law Colleges.
PT Thomas also served as an Editor of the Magazine, the State Chairman of the Cultural Organization of Sanskriti and the Executive Member of the Kerala Library Association. In 1990 he was elected a member of the Idukki District Council from the Vathikudi division.
He was a Thodupuzha MLA in 1991 and 2001 and Idukki MP in 2009. PT Thomas received several awards for his outstanding work including – Abu Dhabi Vision for Best MLA CP of Readers Forum Sreedharan Award, Kuwait CM Stephen Cultural Forum Award, VK of Thriprayar Welfare Society.
He is one of the best parliamentarians in Kerala who introduced nine private bills. He is the chairman of ‘Manava Sanskriti’ which runs the library.
