Sonia’s letter to PM – why 3 prices of vaccine, why running away from duty?

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has raised questions on the corona vaccination policy of the central government. Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and said that the government’s policy is arbitrary and discriminatory. Sonia Gandhi said that this policy shows that the government is shedding its responsibility of giving free vaccines to people between 18 and 45 years.

Sonia Gandhi asked how the government can allow profiteering in such a difficult time? they wrote,

“At a time when medical resources are low, there are no beds in the hospital, lack of oxygen supply and other medicines, why is your government allowing a policy that is highly insensitive.”

Gandhi said that despite the atrocities on civilians last year, the government is continuing a discriminatory policy.

“Why three vaccine prices?”

Sonia Gandhi wrote that the result of this policy is that the vaccine manufacturer has fixed the price of the vaccine separately. Giving an example of the Serum Institute, Sonia Gandhi said that this would cost the citizens a higher price for taking the vaccine and would also increase the economic burden on the state governments.

Sonia Gandhi also questioned the three price range regarding the serum institute vaccine. He said, “How can a vaccine manufactured from the same company have three different prices?”

The Serum Institute has announced new prices for its vaccine covicshield, under which it will provide vaccines at Rs 400 per dose to state governments, and Rs 600 per dose to private hospitals. At the same time, this vaccine was given 150 rupees per dose to the central government.

Sonia Gandhi said that Congress has already demanded a re-evaluation of the policy from the Central Government. Gandhi demanded the Prime Minister to intervene immediately and suggested the decision to be withdrawn. Sonia Gandhi said that the aim of the nation should be to vaccinate all the people above the age of 18 years.
