Today, (Monday) Google has released a doodle to pay tribute to a great Indian poet and India’s first woman Satyagrahi, named Subhadra Kumari Chauhan. Subhadra Kumari Chauhan was born on 16 August 1904 in Prayagraj, earlier known as “Allahabad”, situated in Uttar Pradesh. She was born in a Rajput family. Subhadra showed her interest in poetry from a very young age. She wrote her first poet at just the age of 9, titled “सुभद्राकुवरि”. In 1919, she got married to Thakur Laxman Singh, who was a playwright. After, just two and half years of marriage, she joined the satyagraha and became the first woman Satyagrahi. She was jailed twice for his involvement in protest against British rule in India. As she was a poet, she used her poems and influential writing to excite the people during those days. Subhadra Kumari passed away on 15 February 1948.
