TMC from Election Commission: ‘Suvendu shelters criminals in Nandigram’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O’Brien wrote a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner on 22 March. O’Brien accused BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari of ‘harboring criminals’ in Nandigram. The TMC leader has written this letter a few days before the West Bengal assembly elections.

Referring to the four places, O’Brien wrote, “We have come to know that Suvendu Adhikari, a candidate from Nandigram of the Bharatiya Janata Party, is harboring criminals who are not residents of Nandigram.”

The places mentioned by O’Brien in his letter are the house of a person named Kalipad She, the house of a person named Meghnath Pal in Haripur, the house of a person named Pabitra Kar and the house of another person. “

The TMC leader said, “The local police has been informed about this but no action has been taken.” O’Brien asked the Election Commission to intervene immediately, saying that “the police should apprehend the non-social elements within the Suvendu officer’s shelter as soon as possible”.

Nandigram’s Rann

In Nandigram seat, BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari is going to face West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari was the leader of TMC till last year but then in December he joined BJP in Amit Shah’s rally.

Suvendu’s father Shishir Adhikari has also joined the BJP recently. Apart from Suvendu, many other TMC leaders have also joined the BJP. In the West Bengal elections, the BJP has emerged as a big challenge for Mamata.

Election in Bengal will be held in eight stages. Votes will be cast on March 27 for the first phase. The results of the election will come on 2 May.
