Actually, the Karnataka state congress leaders, Popular Front of India (PFI) members and several other Kannada regionalists on Sunday, 16 January launched a Twitter campaign #SayNoToSanskrit against the establishment of a Karnataka Sanskrit University.

The spokesperson of the Karnataka Congress AN Nataraj Gowda wrote his disregard for the move. He wrote on the official social media handle – “We are observing the conspiracy of bigotry, the teaching of Sanskrit to Kannada children. Instead of boosting the tourism sector of this taluk govt is allotting land to useless Sanskrit university.”

Nataraj also criticized the BJP government by stating “We need skill university, not Sanskrit. This is unacceptable. They only want to promote Hindi and Sanskrit.”

Let us tell you, Karnataka Sanskrit University is going to get a permanent campus soon, which will be built in Magadi, Ramnagara. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai will himself lay the foundation stone for the campus of Sanskrit University tomorrow.

Several media reports say the permanent campus of Karnataka Sanskrit University will be built on 100 acres and will cost ₹320 crores to build it. Karnataka Sanskrit University was started in 2010. Since then it is running on the temporary campus. Currently, there are 31 colleges under this university.
