World Rainforest Day is observed on June 22. As the name suggests, this day is celebrated to celebrate the existence of rainforests and to create and raise awareness about the conservation of this integral natural resource. Rainforests are keeping our planet alive. They are home to half the world’s animal species, provide us with fresh water, and are essential to keeping our climate stable. 28% of the total oxygen available to the whole world comes from rainforests. There are two types of rainforests, tropical rainforests, and temperate rainforests. Which are found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America.

According to news18.com, The first World Rainforest Day was on June 22, 2017. It was created in collaboration with a group called the Rainforest Partnership. It is an international non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas, and is dedicated to protecting and regenerating tropical rainforests through community-based projects in the Amazon. Rainforests absorb carbon dioxide, stabilize climate change, and are home to half the world’s animal species and plants. The organizers of this day believe that rainforests the size of 40 football fields are damaged every minute. In addition, according to the current rate of deforestation, it is estimated that 28,000 species will become extinct by 2050. June 22 is celebrated as World Rainforest Day to make people aware of the protection of rainforests.
The Amazon rainforest has existed for about 60 million years when the Atlantic Ocean expanded enough to create a tropical climate in the Amazon basin. After the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, it is believed that a humid climate developed, which led to the expansion of the rainforest. One of the main reasons for the destruction of rainforests is the felling of trees. Many types of wood used for furniture, flooring, and other construction purposes are obtained from the tropical forests of Africa, Asia, and South America.
