Xiaomi to source audio products from Noida company

Noida- In order to tackle the pressure on Chinese companies to localise operations, Xiaomi consumer electronics and smartphones company Xiaomi will now source its audio products from Optiemus Electronics, a Noida-based headquartered contract manufacturer. “For Xiaomi, the partnership with Optiemus marks our entry into ‘Make in India’ in a completely new segment and category. We feel that this is an important category to invest and grow in, and this partnership will help us achieve our targets with an Indian company,” Muralikrishnan B, president of Xiaomi India stated in a statement. “For us, this partnership for audio products could be the first of many such initiatives with Optiemus. We will like to build on further on this commitment. The opportunity we have here is as big as we had in smartphones at one point in time.”

In India, the audio category is pre-dominated by Indian brands including Noise and Boat. Besides that, top brands such as Samsung, Apple and Samsung. The brand Xiaomi states that the demand for audio devices like wireless sets and headphones will remain to dominate demand in India, especially in the mainstream category. Director of Optiemus, Nitesh Gupta stated that the partnership with company Xiaomi will strengthen the brand’s position in the global market along with manufacturing quality products.”This is beyond a sourcing arrangement. It’s a partnership that will only strengthen with time.”

Similar to Top brands like Apple, Xiaomi doesn’t manufacture its products, they source them from other manufacturers right after building its design and inner architecture. It also includes smartphones and TVs. Murali further added that currently domestic value addition in its products is almost 20%. With this collaboration, it would go up to 30% in the next 2 years. In India, youth loves to spend tons of money in new technological devices.
