Importance Of Gangaur Teej

Gangaur Teej is performed by unmarried and married women for the good luck and well-being of their husband and future groom. Mother Parvati and Lord Shankar are worshiped on this day. This 17-day long festival ends on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. On this day, unmarried, married, and newly married women go to the river, pond, sing songs and immerse Gangaur. Married women observe this fast to get love, reverence, and good fortune from their husbands for the coming seven births. According to mythological beliefs, Mata Gavarja, i.e., Mother Parvati, comes to her Pehar on the second day of Holi. After eight days, her husband, i.e., Lord Shiva, comes to take her back. Hence this festival begins with the Pratipada of Holi. From this day onwards, married women and unmarried girls worship him daily by making Shiva (Gan) and Mata Parvati ( Gaur) of clay. After this, Gangaur, Shiva, and Parvati bid farewell to Chaitra Shukla Tritiya. Hence the festival is known as Gangaur Teej
