The festival is celebrated twice a year i.e one during ashada in June and the other in January.

It is believed that if a woman performs the puja during this time along with keeping all 9 days fast then Goddess will help her removing in marital problems. All 9 forms of the Goddess are worshipped on a different day throughout the 9-day festival. Fast is kept and broken in the evening after puja. Grandparents like to visit their daughters and grand-daughter to shower them with their blessings. Many believe Navratri is a festival to test one’s faith in god and worship the goddess secretly. That is why the festival is also called Gupt Navratri or “secret of nine nights.”
