History of National Girl Child Day
Back in 2008, the Government of India recognized the 24th of January as the National Girl Child Day every year with the sole aim of raising awareness about society’s perception towards girls and how to change it. It shows how to value girls along with educating them regarding their basic rights. In order to achieve this, many initiatives have been made by the government and led by the women and child development ministry including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Save the Girl Child, Free or subsidized education for the girl children, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, CBSE Udaan Scheme and Reservation for women in colleges and universities
